Job Description

As a Chef you will:
  • Support the Catering Lead in the provision of the catering facility of the school whilst maintaining a safe working environment for the staff.
  • Prepare hot and cold food and assist with the service of the food.
  • Help plan daily menus with the Catering Lead, making provisions as appropriate for special food diets (e.g. allergens).
  • Develop and progress the catering provision to deliver healthy and high-quality meals that meet nutritional standards and the Healthy food for healthy outcomes DFE food policy.
  • Ensure control of portion size, quality and presentation of food being served to students and staff.
  • Minimise wastage and manage stock levels.
  • Order stock with regular suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with all fire, licensing, food safety and employment regulations.
  • Ensure health and safety regulations are met.
  • Maintain hygienic standards as laid down by Management and the Food Safety Act.1990, Food Safety (General Food Staff Regulations 1995) and the Food Safety Temperature Control Regulations 1995.

We are looking for a Chef with:
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Allergy Awareness qualification.
  • HACCP training.
  • Experience of working within a catering environment, ideally within a mass catering setting.
  • Proven experience working at a strategic level in a school kitchen.
  • An understanding of menu planning and costing.
  • Experience of keeping Health & Safety records.

In return, for this Chef position you will receive a salary of £22,627-£25,991 (£16,078-£18,469 pro rata) depending on experience, plus you will receive support to complete further academic study and professional qualifications and benefit from having a dedicated, specialist team around you.
